This weekend was our area's annual Artist's Studio Tour.  Mary Jo and I set out to visit some of the many artists who open their studios and workshops to the public.  We only made it to a fraction of them in the six hours we spent on our tour but it was a delightful six hours.  We met some of the most incredibly talented and generous people who willingly shared their visions and patiently explained their art to us.  By the end of the day we were both humbled and inspired by these multi-talented people.  We saw the work of two photographers, an artist who does extraordinary oil portraits, one who makes Tibetan prayer wheels of amazing beauty, another who does etchings and stone engravings and one who creates handmade books.

My blip is a work by a gentleman whose abstract art is very organic and even after talking to him for about an hour I have no idea how it's done except it's a large block of styrofoam with various liquid materials and dyes applied which sort of form their own art.  The finished piece is on a pole in a pot of stones and actually looks quite silly until you get up close.  I also put a picture of his workshop and one of him explaining his work to Mary Jo in Extras, along with a second close up of another piece.  In most places I wouldn't presume to take pictures but he was most willing to have us photograph his work.
