Luxor on the Nile
A fairly boring morning flying from Cairo to Luxor turned into a hectic awe-inspiring afternoon. We only had time to drop our bags in our cabin on our boat before going to lunch and then straight out to visit the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. They should be connected by 3 km of paved road lined with 2000 sphinxes, but much of it remains under buildings in the town and is yet to be excavated.
Their week's challenge of 'COLOUR' shouldn't be too difficult. Here is the sunset (which was over in a few minutes) as well as the underneath of a block connecting tall columns that still shows the colours used to paint the hieroglyphs at Karnak. Google what these Temples used to look like - a veritable kaleidoscope of colour.
Some others added too.
