And so , today we, as a family, commemorate the 100th anniversary of our Great Uncle Harry, who died at the Battle of Poelcapelle, part of the Passchendael campaign October 9th, 1917.He is buried here at Dochy Farm cemetery, about 5 miles from Ypres. It was great to be able to come here as a family to pay our respects. Moving and emotional, much more than expected.
The extra pic shows the grave a couple of rows away, of one Jimmy Speirs, Cameron Highlander, who played for Bradford City and who scored the winning goal at the 1911 FA Cup final for Bradford City v Newcastle United.
