2012 AFL Grand Final - Swans v Hawks !

So it was the big day and the following happened

Turns out we were staying in Hawks territory....the local cafe was full of them and we got a bit of light hearted cheek from the owner and some patrons (more on that tomorrow!)

A wander around town to go for breakfast and buy some ear plugs (cheers Paul!)

A few pre game beers at Beer Deluxe to calm the nerves....

The walk to the MCG with thousands of people.....then the heavens opened ! Melbourne experiences 4 seasons in one hour !

We got to our seats, second row from the front practically directly behind the goals.....awesome!

The rest is a blur of various emotions.....excitement, fear, horror, joy, fear and more joy!

First quarter they were 19 points ahead.....Second we came back and going into half time we were leading by 30 something points....Third there was 1 point in it and the Forth was goal for goal.....I had a sore throat and no nails left by the end of it.........

It was a classic Grand Final, it was impossible to tell who was going to win until the very end......when the Swans (despite a lot of injuries) came out on top and won by 10 points 81 to 91 !!

It was an amazing day, one I'll never forget..... fortunately the outcome of the match meant it was worth the 10 hours in the car the day before!

After the game had finished we met up with my neighbours who were also at the game and we had some post game Chinese and a few beers.....the excitement of the day meant that we all hit the wall fairly early on and headed back to the hotel at about 11 oclock !!
