Traffic and waterfalls

I had planned to stop at a number of waterfalls on my drive south today.

Unfortunately today was my first real experience of the crazy traffic and roadworks on the inland route since the coastal route was closed by the Kaikoura earthquake last year.

I've done the trip a number of times since the earthquake and felt the road conditions weren't really as bad as everyone was making it. Today proved me wrong and them right.

I stopped at this waterfall because I could pull well off the road here, but even then it was fairly dangerous trying to pull back into the highway, so I didn't risk stopping at any others.
