Solace Day 8.
We were mooring at the Streethay Boatyard at exactly 8:30 - in the pouring rain! Things were a little delayed, first an ex- working boat had to perform some manoeuvres. It was a full size (70foot) which had been the owner of the yard's father's boat which he presumably worked. It dated from 1938. Next there was already a boat in the "engine dock" so a poor guy had to service our engine in the pouring rain. Glad we were in the cabin!
After the service we headed for Fradley junction to turn down the Trent and Mersey. There seemed to be more Canada Geese and Herons about on this stretch, however this is my only Heron shot of the trip. It seemed to be a youngster but was learning fast. I suspect the boat disturbs fish making them move and become visible. At least the Heron seemed to thinks so as it followed the boat down the canal. letting us pass watching the water and then flying to catch up again.
