Polders

A good breakfast and plenty of coffee was not sufficient to sustain us through a planned circular walk to see the sights. After walking along the top of a dyke for a few km in horizontal rain and a very strong wind we turned back, mostly soaked to the skin. After trying to dry out somewhat and re-grouping we headed into the little town of Zierikzee and walked about admiring old ships and buildings. Eventually we found a very nice pub which was both warm and dry as well as serving a variety of delicious beers. We all cheered up considerably and went back to the house for another round of eating. I think I may have played some music at some stage.

The sheep in the photo are all in the bield of the dyke - the sea was behind me and the wind was hurling a fair amount of it at my back.
