Moorish or Maybe Not

Bet you couldn't guess what that was from the thumbnail... 

Well, it's the inside of one of these, one of Mourão's distinguishing features. They say they are of Moorish origin, but our architect says that, looking at old drawings, there were none here before the town was mostly demolished in the Great Earthquake of 1755 (worth watching, btw, for a quick summary of one of modern Europe's greatest natural disasters).

This chimney is in the priest's laundry room, which I hardly ever use because I'm frightened of his huge Vietnamese pig, who sleeps across the doorway and grunts terrifyingly if you disturb him. Had to do it today, though, because Mike was up the land, so thought I'd at least get a blip from it.
