Messing About On The River
We have a suspicion that these two might actually be part of the German sailing team - on the sails it has GER 001 & 2. Unless they are Geralds 1 and 2.
Down at Schierstein today for a bit of fresh air and a walk. They're gearing up for the Schierstein version of Oktoberfest - it might be quite fun to look in on.
My partner made a film (a few years ago) about Oktoberfest in München and she's told me some not so great stories about it. Like the people who bring your Maß (your 1 litre glass) of Bier, they actually buy the beer from the brewers and they're betting that they can sell enough to cover what they've paid. It also explains why you'd pay 9.50 Euro for a litre at Oktoberfest compared with about 6.50 everywhere else.
I also found out that virtually no-one wears Lederhosen. Apart from tourists. And if you buy them, they more than likely were made in Sri Lanka.
I cleared my to-do list from yesterday so I'm quite pleased. And I also learned my first, bona-fide rude German word (thanks to a bit of street art). I found it was rude by asking G what it meant and she did a bit of a double take. I shall take care not to use it in polite company.
For those curious enough to wonder what it was, you can find out here.
