With mountains like these

O Marcelo!

O Porrinho to Santiago on the train, through the eucalyptus lined estuaries. We had great lodgings  right in town and headed straight out for the cathedral and then all excited we made our way to O Gato Negro.

Closed till November.

The horror!  What could we do!

Uh oh, we just found the best possible alternative in Marcelo's... what a fantastic food experience. "I will cook for you" are just the best words to hear when you are hungry. By heck he did.

Get there at 13:30 and don't move until you can't any more anyway.

Unbelievably, after a small 3 hour nap, we went out for a light dinner at Gato Negro's neighbours, the spicy tiger or something and ended up being filmed eating their spicy mussels for Galician t.v.

Look , the trip wasn't all about the food. But a lot of it was !

What an amazing time with good friends, we felt healthier and fitter when we said our goodbyes and have filled that memory reserve right up to the brim with autumnal goodness. Jeff, Les and of course Mike, I love you all so much , wishing Deb and Johnny could have made it too.
