The umbrella
Today we got a guided tour of the Olympia theatre building in Bridgeton. It started life as a Variety Theatre and then became a cinema. More recently it was a furniture shop before it became a derelict building.
The facade of the building has been retained but the rest had to go and behind the front there is a new multi-purpose building. The ground floor will house the new library which will be sound proofed from the first floor sports space which will be the home of boxing in Scotland. The remaining space will be commercial lets.
This is the view from the terrace at the front. The recently developed cross includes what is known as The Umbrella which was appropriate for today's rain.
