Pitt Street
Council ground breaking initiatives usually mean just that - digging up the roads and pavements to relay the road layout following tram works that then resulted in them not laying tram tracks. But then redoing the work cos they might actually have a tram service after all.
But this one might have more logic. By putting works of art on recycling bins, the council hopes local residents will be encouraged to take paper and packaging to be recycled and not to landfill.
Here we see a Pitt Street paper recycling bin adorned with a white painted Cigs. As yet other works have yet to be revealed but I've heard whispers that a Paolozzi bin is unrealistic and that a George Wylie inspired wall mounted cigarette bin is 'unlikely' but a Warhol-esque bin cover is 'possible'.
