The Daily Fix - Colleagues Who Love You

The After Hours Trio dragged me (3rd member of the trio) out for some coffee at 6:30pm, essentially saving me from the continued agony and possible inappropriate for work outburst from telling a student that he will not be getting more marks for his midterm since he entered my room at 4:29pm. Students can be very difficult sometimes especially when they believe that they are entitled to much more than their effort got them. This one insisted that I should have forewarned him that he'd be expected to write an essay with elaborations, examples and explanations (you know, the lot we learn in school) in his midterm as opposed to just the points that answers the question. Because, you know, 20 marks for an hour can just as well be allocated to just 3 bullet points with 2 sentences each.

We went to this cafe at Jonker (the cultural/touristy part of Malacca) called The Daily Fix. It's nestled behind a shop (because that's the best way to get tired, hungry patrons needing a refreshing cuppa) serving the usual breakfast, coffee, pastries, dinner fare. Since we were here for tea (very late tea), we had that. Priscilla had their signature pandan pancakes (served with palm sugar that made it quite something else) while I heeded their recommendation: the durian cake. The best thing I've had in a long while. My cares all melted away. I shall never want for anything anymore.
