Dream Theater
I cannot believe I watched these creatures alive.
After the concert all I could think was, I wish I dedicated my life so much to something that I was at least this good at it. Watching them play is like a slap to the face. They are incredible at what they do, and it is no easy work or pure talent. What I watched was years of hard work and the dedication to stay together and make music. Their energies were all over the stage.
The lighting blew my mind maybe more than the sound quality. At some point I quit the music and just watched the lights - they were SO FUCKING IN SYNC with the music. Polyrhythms, fast beats, challenging passages. Whatever comes to your mind, and the light followed it with every step right with the music. The lights headbanged, they shone and flashed with critical drum kicks, they followed the drama of sad vocals. It was incredible. Just amazing.
The next time they come around, I'll be praying they play at least one song from Octavarium and/or Metropolis Pt. 2. Two of favourite albums of all time and they didn't even touch them. :(
And the next time, I'm buying my tickets weeks beforehand.
