Pennine Way
We had a long walk across the moor this morning before stopping for bacon sandwiches in Slaithwaite. Although it was pretty warm, the usual former 9 gale was blowing on the tops, and the weather lurched between benign and threatening - see extras. The photo does look better Large.
Good luck to everyone in Ophelia's path - can you remember where you were on October 15th 1987, the night of the Great Storm? I was in London, in a flat that I really thought would be torn apart - my flatmate and I huddled in the bathroom as it had no windows. Walking to work the next day past fallen trees, torn off roofs and debris everywhere was quite surreal. Let's hope Ophelia is kinder.
