Gyles House, Pittenweem Harbour

This fine house built in 1626 for a Captain James Cook who was reputed to have been captain of the ship which took the young King Charles 11 out of the clutches of Oliver Cromwell.
The house is part of the 'National Trust Sma' Houses Scheme for the renovation and rescue of some of greatest examples of Scottish vernacular architecture.
