American White Pelican

I was surprised to see three pelicans swimming in one of our small lakes today.  As with most of our images, this looks much better large.  I don't think I've seen them this late in the year before, especially after a snowstorm and several nights below freezing.  The other two in the extra were fishing together and had just surfaced.  One of them was lucky that time.  They are so interesting to watch.  They are perfectly synchronized when they dive and surface and they are successful more often than not.
