Scenes of Old Kendal

This is Branthwaite Brow. If you ignore the signs and street furniture it is one of the best preserved bits of old Kendal. You can see the famous 1657 Chocolate House where you can choose from about twenty different varieties of drinking chocolate.

The light driving to Kendal this morning was very strange. Pinkish clouds which I now read were caused by sand carried up from the Sahara by Ophelia. Back home we have cancelled a Trust meeting planned for this evening and tied down all the wheelie bins. Now we sit and wait. Probably won’t be as bad as forecast.
