Naga

In the Hindu mythology, a Naga is a serpent with human features. In Laos and in the north of Thailand, people believe that it lives in the Mekong.
It is an awe-inspiring figure, which is benevolent to Men. This is why it stands as a pair in front of temples to guard the access and chase evil spirits.
To evoke spirituality, the Asian deities often adopt an awe-inspiring figure to make them look different from Man. But they do not carry a sense of evil as they would in the West. The Buddha is sitting under the king cobra, protecting him from the sun or the rain.
The Naga, like the dragon or the serpent, belong to the same myth of an eternal rebirth.
Today's blip is a fountain that belongs to a spirit house protecting the MRT headquarters in Bangkok.
