Lehigh County Open Gate ....
Farm Tour.
Even though the weather wasn't as they predicted (it was overcast most of the day) we still went out to the Lehigh County Open Gate Farm Tour. There are several farms that we like to visit each year during this open gate tour.
But our first stop was taking a drive through the Trexler Game Preserve to see the bison. And to pick up our yearly supply of hickory nuts for the squirrels. There are a lot of hickory trees in the preserve that produce tons of nuts .... and our squirrels absolutely LOVE them!!
After the game preserve we stopped at Gress Mountain Ranch to see the rescued animals .... we particularly like the alpaca's as seen in my collage. The picture of the young girl and her dog was taken there also.
Then it was on to Lyon Creek Farm to get another yearly supply .... this time it's corn! The owner of the farm knows us by now and graciously allows us to buy his dried corn (on the cob) at a bulk rate! We have done this for a few years now .... and, of course, our squirrels appreciate it! The cow (lower right) picture was taken here.
By this time it was getting late but on the way home we also stopped at a horse riding stables. There wasn't much going on here and I didn't even take a single picture.
We had a great day together! The extra is a young squirrel that has recently come to visit us. He/she is the cutest!
