Stormy Weather

This was the day we had been warned about. We knew this afternoon there would be very strong winds as Storm Ophelia was passing over. Here it still felt quite calm and quiet as we went to a local farm shop for lattes. While we sat we watched the crepuscular rays and decided to head up onto the old A66 so we could get a good view of the fells and the clouds.

By that time it was 3pm and the wind arrived from nowhere. Getting back home I learned from Blip that the weird sky this morning had been caused by  Sahara and debris from fires in Europe.

In the late evening the house was almost plunged into darkness. I say almost, as there were some low energy lights still on in the hall. I lit some candles and sat back at my laptop, running on battery. It was then I noticed that I still had internet, The router was still working so I put up a blip. Previously a power cut has taken out everything. Our LED lights kept taking it in turns to come back on and go back off. Most odd!

In other news I went to get my lost purse which had been posted to my local NATWEST. One card was missing so I asked for a replacement,  it hasn't been used. It probably hadn't been in the purse when I lost it 11 days ago. I got no info as to who had been kind enough to hand it in.
