Red Staghorn Sumac at Fort River

We returned to the nearby Fort River Refuge today, for the first time (probably) since June. A gorgeous clear, cool indian summer day; it was great to have free time after the many weeks of working on yesterday's bird club presentation.  We had relatively few birds today (though understandably, since it was midday in fall); much the best was a golden-crowned kinglet which hung around for a while (though much too flighty and distant for a photo). The extra is a broad view, including a bit of the refuge's superb boardway.
