Home At Last
The evacuation order was lifted at 3pm, just as I was sitting lying down to write this. We packed up our stuff threw everything in the car and I was home by 5:30. It is wonderful to be home. We are grateful beyond words to the first responders who kept our neighborhood safe, came up our steep driveway and moved anything wooden or plastic away from the house and fought back the flames. We are also grateful for Maureen and Kelly who allowed us to occupy their house for ten days with three dogs, and five people. I am also grateful for all the people who offered support, called and reached out to us.
We are exhausted and going to bed now. By the time we locate and use all the basics it will probably be our normal bedtime. I have a good wine story, but it will have to wait....
