Leaving a Legacy

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

Today was my Granny’s funeral. She was born in 1920, two years after ‘The War to End All Wars’ and eight years before women received full suffrage. She grew up in a mining community. Her home didn’t have an indoor toilet, electricity, a phone, a fridge, a washing machine or heating other than a coal fire. She married during another world war and had 5 children, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

I can’t even begin to imagine the magnitude of changes she must have seen and how the world has evolved during her lifetime.

She was an interesting and complicated woman. I’m not sure I ever really scratched beneath the surface…
