When is a melon not a melon???

The answer : when it is a Pepino Melon! And I wish I had known that before I bought one and put it to the taste test - which I have to say it failed. Or at least it failed the melon taste test. I thought it tasted like a horrible pear and it left a yukky after taste. The bunnies also gave it nul points as,after sniffing it, they just went back to their hay.
Mr Google has now Informed me it is not a melon. It is related to tomatoes and aubergines. It is sometimes called a melon pear - at least I got that bit right
So it is a pretty wee thing, expensive too - but not worth recommending.
