Naan-pareil
There's nothing quite like naan bread with curry. Well, that's what Mr B believes. And so we are stuck with a problem: we eat quite a lot of curry. You can't buy naan bread in France (well, not in our part anyway). So with a certain inevitability I have added naan bread to the list of things I make at home. Sensibly, I decided to embark on this culinary experiment when we still have two small naan breads in the freezer - just in case of disaster. Not so sensibly, I decided to embark on it after several glasses of afternoon wine... Regardless, all went well and it was pronounced 'delicious' (and that was by a man who had not partaken of the afternoon wine due to driving duties later).
And so, later, we headed off through the pouring rain to our first ever basketball match. It was the first men's match of the season and was extremely exciting. Thank goodness they have quite a long half time break - I think I would have expired from excitement if it had continued without a break. Basketball is one of the few sports I didn't really try at school - it was something we played to muck around at the end of a session of 'proper' sport (hockey, athletics, etc). I suspect our games teacher didn't know how to play it which is why we didn't bother.
Anyway, this has left me in the unusual position of knowing absolutely nothing about the rules. Usually I can vaguely follow what's going on, but with basketball I am totally lost. I did try and read some of the rules on wikipedia, but that turned out to be rather hard during the match, so I just let myself get swept up with the whole cheering and clapping and happily Lavaur won a very tightly fought match so we were all happy. But now I'm going to have to learn the rules....
