Hubby and The Parthenon

Nice day, don't you think?  Hmmm ... let's see ... yes, we had a nice day.

Woke up at 10.00.  Haven't done that in ages.  Breakfast at about 11.00.  Then off to the Acropolis, which was the objective for today.  We bought a 'united' ticket, which will enable us to visit seven outdoor sites without having to pay all the time.  Hubby had his senior's discount.  We took our time climbing to the top, passing by Dionysius's Theatre, and then another the name of which escapes me, and then finally, hubby got to see what I saw 31.5 years ago -- the magnificent 'top of the mountain' with the Parthenon.

It was already under reconstruction 31.5 years ago, and still with the platforms and cranes today, but only in front.  Apparently, a lot of work has already been done on the rest of it, and the front has been left for last.  Not a bad idea, I think.  In about 20 years, I'd like to see it again.  Hopefully, by that time it'll have been completely restored to its former glory.  Whether hubby will still be around ... I hope so.

After the Parthenon and everything around it (Propyleia, Erechtheion, etc.) we went to the Acropolis Museum nearby and had a good walk around and a grand snack.  Afterwards, some more walking around the Zappeion, and about 2 hours later it was time for dinner again.  Spent till way past midnight processing about 250 photographs, but they were worth it.  Hubby, too, took pictures.  He is now the owner of my first DLSR but he knows he needs to practice with it a lot more often.
