Easy, get rid of all the unnecessary and worn out stuff you see in the thumbnail crop, it serves no purpose and confusingly leads people to the footway on the opposite side when they should be heading down the carriageway. Less is sometimes more! Then you can bring the give way markings further forward on the side road to give motorists better visibility and make it easier for them to get out too.
