Wealth

For some, such as the elite riders competing in the $380,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5* show jumping competition this evening at the Tryon International Equestrian Center, wealth clearly exists in the form of superb horses and the ability to take part in world-class competitions. (This center is in the small North Carolina town where my cousin lives, providing a year-round show venue for hunter/jumper, dressage, and eventing competitions -- a horse lover's Mecca!)

For my cousins and me today, our wealth was welcoming a sixth cousin here, reminiscing about our childhoods, enjoying delicious homemade meals together, grabbing some quick photos of each other on our phones, naps for a few, walks for others, the equestrian event for the women and a baseball game on TV for the men, and lots of hugs.

Making memories and strengthening connections -- that's true wealth.
