Deconstructed cocktails

Not entirely coincidentally, the Minx and I are attending the same conference in Birmingham, tomorrow: she will be speaking and I will be loitering by a stand and attempting to look approachable (not a core skill of mine, tbh).

Always happy to mix pleasure with business, we dropped our bags at the careworn but intriguing Britannia Hotel and went to find somewhere to eat. The centre of a city is never the easiest place to locate anything independent and interesting, and in the end we settled for Las Iguanas, which at least met the latter criterion and, amazingly, had their music pitched at the right level: audible, and above muzak, yet below conversation-preventing. 

The food was great and the portions were far more generous than anticipated, such that the dessert menu was destined to remain in its little wooden stand. However, the Minx had identified Las Iguanas' "deconstructed cocktails", whereby the cocktail components are delivered in three separate glasses. Mine - tequila, honey something, and something else - was amazing. I think this is my new favourite way to have a cocktail.
