Time is ticking

With my mates funeral on Thursday i have all sorts of thought are ticking way in my mind...

I suppose the reoccurring one is "the future is not promised so we have to enjoy the now..." I just can't work out where the balance is between doing it NOW and also making provision for the FUTURE... Not to sure i will ever find the answer...
