Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 VC USD G2

Guess what we bought today.  Well that was for me, and Mrs W wound up with a Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 II DG HSM.  That’s the cheaper of the Sigma 12-24 lenses – not for the lack of trying by the salesman . . .  Wide angle was missing from Mrs W's set of lenses.

In the end the difference between the Sigma 18-300 and my Tamron 18-270 did not justify changing it, so the Tamron remains my workhorse.

When it came to the 150-600s (four on the market, two Sigmas and two Tamrons) the Sigma’s anti-wobble was not good, especially when compared with the Tamron G2 - press the button on the Tamron and the wobble just stopped.  Reviews on comparative image quality were close, and Wex have a couple of hundred quid off the Tamron at the moment so . . .

Today’s blip is a slightly unfair comparison of the tree taken at 14.00hrs with Mrs W’s Canon 100-400 at full stretch at yesterday’s extra, and the same shot taken at 18.00hrs today in failing light with the Tamron 150-600, also at full stretch.   Both shots hand held.  Neither award winning photos. Today’s extra is our anemometer taken with the Tamron at 300mm.

Mrs W has been flitting about with her new toy, so maybe she’ll start blipping again.
