The A Team
What a great day. We did a special session at the 7th Adventist Church. There is a shortage of blood with the Ro factor in it (it is used for people who suffer with sickle cell anaemia); we tend to find that black donors have it and so the session was aimed at them today. The church had announced it and encouraged their congregation to turn up today.
Virtually everyone was a new donor and some were quite nervous, but because we were just a three bed session we could spend a bit more time with everyone. The atmosphere was great, they were such lovely people and we had a good team out.
Suzanne did a haemoglobin test on me during our break and my iron level has shot up...yay! The tablets are working.
We finished early and were back at PG just after eight. Sue and I decided ages ago that we would celebrate being so good with our diets in September. It has taken us this long to sort it out, but tonight we arrived back at base, changed out of our uniform and then nipped over the road to the Chinese for dim sum. Suzanne came along too. I don't think I shall be able to eat for days. I've been so strict and not had anything bad since the first of September and then tonight my stomach was bombarded with delicious food....it is in swollen shock! We will celebrate October soon and then Suzanne is joining us in being good for November.
