Hamburg
from above. A very interesting day yesterday. Walk near the harbor and trip up to the tower of the former Nikolai Church. Great view from the 75 Meter high steeple of what was once, before the war , one of Hamburgs Main Churches. In the 1943 Firestorm caused by the operation "Gomorrah" of the British and US bombs the church was destroyed but the steeple remained. In the basement there is a little museum showing the images and numbers of this horrendous 'event'. I always knew about this, which was a response to the bombing of Coventry. But it is totally different to see it in pictures and listen to the things people said right afterwards. I was shell shocked.
Later in the afternoon there was a grandparentsmeeting at the place of my daughter and in the evening I was simply to tired to post. Still I wanted this picture to be the picture that is marking my 3 years Blipday. Actually, since September 13, I am blipping 4 years. But as I have had so many gaps in the last year it took me 4 years to reach the 3 year milestone... :-) Never mind, it is still fun, and I will certainly go on, one way or the other.
I am so grateful for this website with all you beautiful people in it. Thank you very much for your continued interest in my journal, for your help and suggestions and support. It is way more appreciated than you can know.
A special thanks to all those whom I was able to meet in person. What a pleasure that always is!!
