TEMPTED BY PINK - BCAM26

We woke up to a misty, murky and generally yucky day and it doesn’t look as if it’s going to change, so Mr. HCB suggested we do our Waitrose shop this morning.

Of course, I was looking for something pink but nothing leapt out at me until we were leaving the store and I spotted these boxes of Quality Street chocolates - and for those who don’t know what these are, the description says : “Delicious sweets in a variety of milk and dark chocolates and toffees.  Contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Proudly made with UTZ Certified cocoa. Suitable for vegetarians.”

They are £4 a box but nowadays there seems to be less variety and they are packaged in a plastic box rather than like a few years ago when they were sold in a much larger tin, which could be used afterwards to store cakes.  We used to munch Quality Street all through the Christmas season - and at any time of day - probably from the 1st December when the Christmas tree was put up until they were finished.

Here are some fun facts about Quality Street:

6,000 Quality Street sweets are produced per minute, a total of 67 million every week.

136,701 miles of foil are used per year to wrap the sweets; the equivalent distance of five times around the equator.

15 million tins of Quality Street were sold in 2010; enough sweets to stretch to the moon and back when placed end to end.

I also looked up “What does your favourite Quality Street chocolate say about you" - I love the Orange Creme and always go for that one first - and actually, it’s not far wrong:

Orange Creme - Carer: If you were to reappear in your school nativity, you would play the shepherd - helpful, patient and always willing to lend a helping hand.

So with a nod to Abstract Thursday, the theme for which is “Movement” and a bit of fartnarkling with my Photoscape X app, here is my take on the Quality Street boxes - we didn’t buy one today - goodness me, they would be gone by the end of the month if we had - and I do mean the end of October - my dentist would be proud of me for resisting!
