How on earth?

I decided to investigate the fact that one of my indicators and rear lights wasn't working this afternoon, having previously forgotten for quite a while.

I started by opening up the bulb compartment so I could take out the bulbs to see if anything was obviously wrong.

Thought I'd then not be able to see anything and would have to pop in some new bulbs.

But no.

Having removed the cover I discovered the picture as you see it.

Both bulbs and their housing just dangling outside of the cluster.

No idea how they've come loose. But I've pushed them back in and am feeling really glad that I looked instead of popping it into a garage first.
