Foster pup
This is Eagle, renamed Chewy. I started volunteering at a shelter that has their dogs and cats fostered in homes while awaiting adoption. Chewy is my first...and will be my last. My husband has not shown any interest in life since our daughter suddenly was called to Heaven last year. He goes through the motions, does the daily things, but his joy seems to be gone. He wants to adopt this pup. I never thought about pet therapy helping him come out of depression. The only problem is that to be a foster, you have to sign an agreement to give the dog or cat back and you can't adopt the first one you foster. Something about not getting caught up in the novelty of a new pet and that they want the foster family to go through the whole process of fostering and giving the animal a new start to life in another home. Basically they need fosters and if you adopt too many then there is no room to foster more. So I am apprehensive, but no harm done in asking. All they can say is either yes or no. I'm going off the foster list anyway since I'm just not able to take care of a dog knowing I'll have to give them up later. I'm going to muster up the courage to go in today or tomorrow.
Wish me luck!
