Flower Friday: a feast for the senses!
A slightly different take on Flower Friday perhaps, but there were certainly plenty of flowers involved! Today, I went down to the Art in Bloom event at the Cincinnati Art Museum. This event takes place every other year, and features about 70 floral arrangements created by local garden clubs, professional designers, groups and individuals presented alongside works from the museum’s permanent collection,, including paintings, ceramics and sculpture. The creations emphasize, challenge or build upon elements and concepts within the work of art, perhaps drawing upon the colours or lines of a painting. Unfortunately I only found out about it this week so it was rather short notice to find anyone to go with, so I went on my own, but at least that gave me plenty of scope for taking photographs! I thoroughly enjoyed the day, admiring all the beauty and creativity which surrounded me. Even better, it was completely free! It was a very popular event, with several large groups there, and as you may imagine very much a female dominant clientele! It had been a beautiful sunny morning as I drove down to Cincinnati, but by the time I came home, the clouds had rolled in bringing with them rain for the evening.
After dinner, Roger and I returned to Cincinnati to see Prokofiev’s ballet Romeo and Juliet at Music Hall. This was the first performance we had attended at the renewed Music Hall, and we were mot disappointed - to our, admittedly amateur ears, the sound seemed great, and the performance was terrific. So between art, flowers and music, today was truly a feast for the senses!
