A perfect day!
What a beautiful day! The expected rain did not happen and we had bright sunshine all day. After breakfast we set off for a walk up the Monbiel valley, taking in the wonderful autumn colours and being amazed at the beauty all around us. We had a good walk, about 12km, which ended back in the village where we went to out favourite coffee shop for a light lunch of soup and coffees. It is the off season here and very few restaurants are open but it is just how I like it, quiet with hardly anyone around.
After our lunch we drove to Davos where we had another walk around the lake - again, stunning autumn colours, especially in the warm sunshine. It was 5C today but it certainly felt warmer in the sunshine. I have added some extra photos of the lake. By the time we got back to the car we had walked a further 6mk, so we had some good exercise today.
We had a delicious supper at one of our favourite restaurants which luckily was not closed for the off season. One of the ski lifts opens next week and that is when the winter season will start. At the moment many hotels and restaurants are closed, having a break before the busy winter season kicks off. There are five mountains to ski on in this area and the lift that is opening is on a mountain that has the most snow at the moment.
What a short but wonderful break - sunshine, fresh mountain air, a good walk and our souls feel restored once again! We go back home again tomorrow morning.
