A delicious haunting?

Here are two views of the large and highly decorated cake on display at Central Market in preparation for Halloween.  Kids love it.

Today, at the library, I had some conversation time with my Vietnamese couple and another woman from Somalia.  We covered a range of topics, including language and religion, and the Somali woman explained a lot about how a Muslim woman includes prayer in her daily life.  She has a marvelous app on her phone, called Muslim Pro, which shows her in what direction to face toward Mecca and will ring to let her know it is time for prayer.  The app also shows the scripture of the day, as well as a number of other features.  It was hard to think of a more practical, useful app that I've come across.  I learned a lot today, an added benefit to this volunteer work.
