Doesn't look common to me!

This is a 'common' Gum Tree Shield Bug - Poecilometis patruelis (Eumecopus patruelis). I'm sure they mean common as in "plenty of them about", rather than common as in "a bit ordinary". Because they are quite extraordinary to look at. Not quite sure what they do for a living.

Bit of a drama on here at the moment - Raj has gone walkabout. He never goes out as you know, but today he escaped through a momentarily open door and now we have to try and find him. He's only escaped a couple of times before in all his almost 5 years on the earth, and he gets seriously stressed out and frightened.
