Dreich day in the Tamar Valley
I have looked with envy at other Blips of sunny skies and billowing clouds. It has been dull, damp and cold here.
150 years ago the landscape in the shot would have been an industrial moonscape, scarred by the largest copper mine in the world. You can still see the signs here and there; ponds tinted blue by copper sulphate; arid land poisoned by arsenic; old mine entrances; chimneys of course, and the odd distinctive Mine Captain's house. The outbuildings here are connected with the mining.
Thought I might as well take today off. With only one week left before I leave the phone has stopped ringing, I don't get any emails and I am generally being ignored. Bliss.
This looks a lot better large.
