Dig this!

On our way back from Cockermouth, we called in to see an archaelogical dig at Papcastle. One of the largest Romano-British settlements ever found in Northern England! It was unearthed during the 2009 floods at Cockermouth.

The Roman Fort at Papcastle was known to the Romans as Derventio.
