Dovecot

Driving back cross country after a visit to My Step Mothers. First time I had noticed this dovecot in the middle of Kirkby. It was built in 1703, the upper part was a pigeon cote with a pigsty below. The sign nearby reminds us that at one time it was illegal to keep pigeons unless you were a landowner, as the pigeons would eat the corn owned by the landowner. It was restored in 2007 as part of the National Restoration Project.
