Bee Boles

I pass these almost daily and have been dying to blip them but it's not a good spot to stop on the A6 and it's often at the wrong time of day for any light on the subject.
This morning I was unusually working in Shap and heading back to Penrith and it was all very quiet as I headed north so I was able to stop and blip.

These are the bee boles for the farm opposite. Redundant now but once upon a time they were used for placing bee hives or 'skeps' that were made of straw and so needed protection in these recesses from the elements. South facing so the bees could catch the sun to warm up.
