Sitges

We drove down from Argeles-sur-Mer to Sitges, arriving at lunchtime at our hotel overlooking the beach.  Well, lunchtime for us, but here they start lunch at 3 in the afternoon.  We walked with P and J through the town trying to find a restaurant that had a table available (we had forgotten that today is a public holiday and lots of people had pre-booked their tables).  Anyway, we found a lovely restaurant eventually, though they fussed and puffed about, shifting a booked party inside in order to give us what turned out to be the best table in the house (terrace).  Maybe they knew it was my birthday. I had anchovies on parmesan toasts to start and monkfish and prawns as a main. We drank a a surprisingly good Catalan chardonnay and I had a de-constructed (or "never actually been constructed") cheesecake and brandy to finish. A very nice birthday it has been.  We spent so long over lunch that the sun was already sinking as we walked back along the promenade.  I thought these boats looked striking against the evening sky.
