The Notorious Robert Knox
WEDNESDAY
Another trip to The Old Operating Theatre to hear a lecture by Alan Bates, an anatomical pathologist and distinguished Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists.
Dr Bates gave a fascinating insight into the life of Robert Knox, the Edinburgh doctor who dissected corpses supplied by Burke and Hare. His contemporaries regarded him as the most celebrated anatomist in Britain, however he is chiefly remembered for his failings.
Knox is said to be the most radical, inspirational but flawed anatomist of all time.
I’ve bought the book too for bedtime reading.
