Being Enveloped
After church today I again stopped and had a walk in Maidenhead Thicket (Little Thicket), as I had done last week. I walked down a different path this time and came across this enormous tree. There was no way I could photograph the whole thing - the branches just went on and on, stretching horizontally more than upwards. I think it was an Ash. It looked kind of spooky, I know - like a big outstretched hand enveloping me. I wonder how old it is? I know this looks like a very dark part of the forest, but it was really a lovely sunny day and I enjoyed more light a little further on.
I didn’t walk very fast - I keep walking because my Physio tells me it’s important! But today I didn’t feel much better than right after I’d had my fall 3 weeks ago. It’s really quite discouraging. I feel a long way off from being able to go back to work.
I came home and made a small roast dinner with a ham and also a big pot of soup. That will keep me going for a few days! While things were cooking I was able to sit outside a bit in the sun - I love the autumn sun on my face even if I have to wear a jacket.
The evening was spent watching Dr Foster before it disappears off of BBC iPlayer. I’m not sure I really like this story, but having watched series 1 I really want to see what happens!
