Halloween Horror...Almost

So I'm back blipping tonight's entry to back blip the story of what happened last night as we were leaving the Halloween extravaganza at The Marshwalk.

Last night Mrs. ATB and I were leaving the Marshwalk a bit before 9pm after having a fantastic evening and congratulating ourselves on what a great time we had.
I did a double check just before heading off. Truck keys, camera, wallet, all check and we started walking toward the parking lot.

We get to the truck and I unlock the doors and put the camera in the truck but see no wallet. It's gone. Lost somewhere around the Marshwalk among hundreds or possibly as many as a thousand people, all in full party mode.

Somehow I lost it between our regular spot near the Mullet Hut and our truck.
Mrs. ATB and I start frantically searching everywhere retracing our steps and trying to use mobile phone flashlights, anything, in hopes of finding it but no luck.

We even looked in the garbage cans thinking maybe somebody took the credits cards and tossed the rest, but nothing. We left our contact info at Creek Ratz and the Mullet Hut just in case someone found it and turned it in.

No luck. My entire life is in that wallet and it's gone but I've got to figure at this point, it's not really lost, someone found it and has it. The question is who? And is that somebody honest.

So I decide to leave Alyce there still manically searching and I drive home with no license, a gun in my pocket (my permit for that is in my wallet) and I've had a few. Nowhere near over the legal limit to drive, but being stopped at a police Halloween spot check would not go well for me.
The plan was to pick up a couple of my serious flashlights so we could continue to search, but I'm crazy at this point.

Well I pull up to our house and there is a guy standing by our front door. He had found the wallet by Creek Ratz and went home and found my address off my drivers license and looked it up on his computer to locate our house so he could return the wallet! He had just taped a note on our front door with his phone number so I could call him and be reunited with my wallet. But I got to meet him right there in person. Unreal!

A very nice honest guy going by the name of Ted went above and beyond to not just save the night for me, but literally changing my life for the better having all my documents returned.

The $140 I had tucked away in the wallet meant nothing to me at this point, the various documents were of paramount importance.

Ted said that as soon as he found the wallet he knew there was some poor guy at the Marshwalk currently going crazy realizing he just lost his wallet on Halloween night with all the associated craziness.
Wow!
So I got it back. Yay! I tried to offer to buy him a case of beer or dinner (hell I'd paint his house for him) but he wouldn't have it, he just wanted to do the right thing.

Just to add another aspect of divine intervention to the whole situation...Mrs. ATB lost her dad on Halloween many years ago, and on this Halloween morning, with thoughts of her dad on her mind, she said a wee small prayer while doing a morning jog on the beach and asked her dad if he would look out for me. Me!?

Well she didn't necessarily expect we would need the help so quickly, but we believe her dad had a part in turning a potential Halloween horror back into a great night again.

I had a whiskey (or two) before turning in last night I can tell you.

Thanks God and Mrs. ATB's dad! Y'all make a great team!

So that's my story. If you got this far thanks for reading, I just had to get it out there.
