Cherkley

This beautiful Victorian neo-classical mansion, at Leatherhead in Surrey, used to be known as Cherkley Court. Now it is simply called Beaverbrook, after its former owner, press baron Lord Beaverbrook. Such a fine building, now a luxury hotel. Those arches to the right of this view house a remarkable shell grotto. Dowager Lady Beaverbrook used to have a passion for collecting sea shells.
